Scott Graham
Year of birth: 1952
Inducted in 2026
Origin: Kent County
Nominated by: Egg Farmers of Ontario
Specialty: Livestock - Poultry
Scott Graham has shown impressive leadership in the egg and poultry sector for many years, and his knowledge of the supply management system and ability to build consensus within the industry has served both Ontario and the egg production sector well.
As Vice Chair and then Chair of Egg Farmers of Ontario (EFO) between 2010-2020, he championed the Consumers’ Choice Campaign which was launched in 2014. This led to engaging consumers in discussions about hen housing and ultimately resulted in the Egg Quality Assurance program (EQA) which became a nationally recognized symbol of food quality and safety.
He also championed the Hyper-eye research initiative to enable gender identification of chicks prior to incubation and hatching. The results of this research are now being commercialized and will enable improved animal welfare and consumer acceptance.
During this time, Scott's support for the Quota Transfer System (QTS) allowed quota transfers to new producers rather than limiting quota transfers through private sales only. This encouraged new entrants to the egg producing business, essential for growth and inclusivity.
Scott also advocated for the establishment of the Food Bank Donation Program in 2014 which, in collaboration with Feed Ontario, has organized the donation of 18 million eggs to date from the egg farmers in Ontario to over 130 food banks across the province.
As a representative of EFO and Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC), Scott also participated in trade negotiations through the Ontario-US Economic Committee in 2016-17 and again during the Canada-US-Mexico Agreement Advisory Initiative in 2017-18. He used these opportunities, as well as his interactions with political leaders over the years, to promote the stability and national importance of Canada's Supply Management System.
From 2014-17, he served as the Chair of the Presidents' Council, a think tank of the leaders of 42 provincial farm and food organizations. Scott's ability to advocate for both farmers and consumers served the Presidents' Council objectives effectively.
Scott served on many other committees including the Agricultural Adaptation Council from 1998-2008 and the EFC's international development program to assist with egg production in places like Eswatini in Africa, Nepal, El Salvador, and Honduras. He was a graduate of the Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program and he received the Agriculture Recognition Award from the Perth County Federation of Agriculture in 2024.
Scott Graham has served Ontario agriculture, supply managed sectors, and the egg industry's producers and consumers very well indeed and is now welcomed into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame.
