Stewart A. Brown

Stewart A. Brown was one of Canada’s foremost beef cattlemen. A breeder, exhibitor, judge and exporter, he left an indelible mark on the industry. He was director of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair 1946 -64 and a director of the Ontario Stockyards Board for over 20 years. He was first president of the Ontario Beef Producers’ Association, served as president of the Ontario Beef Improvement Association, and director and vice-president of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association.

He helped organize the Ontario Beef Bull sale and served on a number of organizations aimed towards improved commercial beef production. During World War II he was a member of the Wartime Prices and Trade Board.

In his own community, Mr. Brown helped organize and was President, Elgin County Junior Farmers, President of the Elgin County Beef Producers, Southwold Township Reeve, Warden of Elgin and first Chairman, Central Elgin District High School Board.
